Psalms of Ascent

After a two week break from Beth Moore, I have begun my next study. I'm going all the way this time. I downloaded the video sessions from Lifeway and have started the homework. The theme is celebrating our pilgrimage. (Hebrews 11:13-16) It covers the Psalms 120 through 134, which are called the Psalms of Ascent or Songs of Degrees. The Jewish people traveled to Jerusalem three times a year to celebrate feasts and they sang these 15 psalms on the 15 steps of Solomon's temple and while they were traveling. I worked on Psalm 122 NLT today and I appreciated the prayer for Jerusalem. I thought the prayer could apply to our country, our churches, our families, and our home.
I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD." And now we are standing here inside your gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a well-built city, knit together as a single unit. All the people of Israel - the LORD's people - make their pilgrimage here. They come to give thanks to the name of the LORD as the law requires. Here stands the thrones where judgment is given, the thrones of the dynasty of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper. O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls and prosperity in your palaces. For the sake of my family and friends, I will say "Peace be with you." For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.
Peace be with you.

when she says she's going all the way this time...she means it! She acts like she knows Beth personally. Well to be honest, I am sooo glad she does these studies, because she has taught me so much that I didnt know. So actually I get the better end of the deal because I dont have to spend a dime and I still learn alot! Keep studying Joni!

I do tend to forget that I've never met Mrs. Moore personally. You know how some kids deal with life better if they can play with imaginary friends? Well, that's me.
