Batik blocks

I've been looking at these blocks in my windowsill for years now. Until I watched this video of Lotta Jansdotter on Etsy, I thought the process was going to be a lot harder. My sister-in-law's 30th birthday is today, and because she is the one who got me collecting them, I wanted to do something fun with them.I used gold linen and black fabric paint, rolled paint on block, and stamped the design. It was fun and easy and I can't wait to do some other projects. (dress for Meg, tablecloth, hand towels, etc.)
I used the fabric to make a simple messenger bag with an inside pocket out of Amy Butler fabric.
I added her gift, a Beth Moore workbook, and sewed my tag on handle, and project complete.
Oh yeah, out of my practice piece, I made Katie a headscarf.

I want a head scarf too! So keep that in mind when you don't have anything else to do! Looks fun, can't wait to see what you do for Meg.
