Ephesians 4:17-18

Drew and I had eye appointments after school. My dad has glaucoma and urges us to keep up with our regular appointments and pressure checks. We hadn't been for two years and I woke up one night worrying about my eye pressure. I fear going blind. (That, and getting Alzheimer's but I'll save it for another day.) Our results came in and the doctor turned to Drew with a grin and said "How do you feel about glasses?" My stomach sunk.

"Why, Lord? He was so perfect and now this? Don't tell me we need to get those dorky sports goggles for football. It's all downhill from here... first this, then braces, then zits... Oooh. I think Crewcuts has cool frames for kids. I hope he picks funky rims. I don't want him to have bad eyes. He had the biggest, most beautiful eyes when he was born, and now... they're just flawed."

But, slowly and surely, the still, small voice made His way through all that junk.

"My daughter, I created Drew in my image. I mixed the chocolate brown pigments. I formed the corneas. I molded the retinas. I gave him two legs to run, two arms to throw, two ears to hear, and two hands to hold. And then I gave him to you. Why do you question me?

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart
..."

Drew was slightly nearsighted and thrilled.
I was spiritually blind and humbled.

He strutted out of the office, looking like the almost-ten year old that he is. I wiped my tears away and hugged him tight.
He rolled those beautiful brown eyes and I said,
"Man, those eye drops are killer, huh?"

I think I fooled him.

Awww, he looks adorable! I figure for us, it's just a matter of time till they are all in glasses:(
We had to put Emma in them at age 4 - be glad he's almost 10!!!
And just think - in a few years he can wear contacts:)

he looks cool!! i remember when kierstyn had to get glasses...i felt the same way. and of course she was on cloud nine, cause she wanted glasses. i'll never forget on the way home from getting them, she was looking up at the trees and said "Look at the leaves, there's light coming through!!" they were all just a blur before and now she was noticing all of God's beauty!! PTL for glasses!! =)

awww...my little Drewbie has glasses and can I just say he looks absoutely a-dorable ( just don't use that word when you tell him what I said...use something a little more manly,like..." bangin") You know it could have been your 5 month old that needed "goggles"...so count your many blessings...I thought it was the end of my world...but boy was I wrong...when we went for a second opinion...there were little kids there that needed glasses...plus they were missing arm, legs, and other things...it didn't take me long to quit my whining and thank GOd for a healthy little baby girl who just had a lazy eye!!! Thank you Heavenly Father for otherwise healthy children!!

I love, love, love kids in glasses :) And he's no exception! I totally understand though...I have the same issues, just on different subjects. Zach just ordered glasses and will be wearing them in a couple weeks. Unfortunately there they had all sorts of funky, fun frames for girls, but not for boys. What's up with that?!?!
